Robert Pinter is entering his first season as the assistant coach for the Iowa men's swimming team. A native of Romania, Pinter graduated in 1994 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in political science. While a Badger he earned All-American accolades in the 200 butterfly and 500 freestyle in the both the 1991 and 1992 seasons. Internationally Pinter is an accomplished swimmer. He began swimming at age seven and was the 1984 Junior European Champion in the 200 butterfly. From 1990-92 he was ranked in the top 20 of the World Rankings. Pinter was also a finalist in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics where he placed seventh in the 200 fly. The past years he has been coaching club swimming. He was voted the Wisconsin Senior Coach of the Year in 2004. Robert Pinter is married to Christie Pinter. |
